FromSoftware’s owner, Kadokawa, has announced its latest earnings, details of which hint at a potential Bloodborne remaster being worked on.
A Bloodborne Remaster Might Be in Development Currently
Bloodborne has a somewhat special position in the world of FromSoftware’s games. Most of the other titles of the developer seem to receive more attention. However, Bloodborne still has a big following that has been asking the devs to make a remaster for years.
Unfortunately, FromSoft has yet to meet the fan’s needs, but it seems there’s still hope for them. This is because the Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa Corporation, FromSoft’s owner, has a total of 26 games in development. There’s a high chance one of them could be a remaster of Bloodborne.
How Are We So Sure a Remaster Is Coming?
While we cannot be 100% sure that FromSoft is working on a Bloodborne remaster, but we can make some reliable predictions based on Kadokawa’s latest earnings. According to a report by Gamerwatch, the conglomerate has 26 games in active development – 20 for console and six for mobile. Of course, those are split between various developers. The most famous current work is probably Action Game Maker, which is made by Gotcha Gotcha Games. The title is going to be a follow-up to GGG’s acclaimed RPG development tool.
However, there is a discrepancy between the games that are announced to be in development and the number stated by Kadokawa. Namely, the number given by the conglomerate is higher than the titles we know are currently worked on. There’s a high chance one of these unaccounted games is a Bloodborne remaster.
But how can we be sure that FromSoft is currently working on this particular project and not something else, say, an expansion for Elden Ring? Well simply put, there isn’t much else they could be developing now. The company released Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for the former in the past two years. Right now, it doesn’t seem like FromSoft is working on a new ER expansion, and director Miyazaki said there were no “current plans” for the game. The company has also not announced it’s developing a new game either. This leaves more time and staff for FromSoft to work on its older titles.
It’s a high chance the company is now busy with Bloodborne. The game came out in 2014 for the PS4 only, so perhaps it’s high time it gets updated for the PS5. A potential PC release, dreamed of by so many souls-like fans, may also arrive if FromSoft is working on a Bloodborne remaster.
Of course, only time will tell if the devs are actually working on a much-needed rework and even a potential PS5 and PC release. But the evidence supports the idea that a Bloodborne remaster is coming: FromSoft is currently not occupied with its more recent releases; there are some unaccounted-for titles in Kadokawa’s release; and Bloodborne is already a decade old and deserves a remaster.
All that’s left for fans is to wait and hope for good news from FromSoftware.
