What Does the Ace Icon Mean in Marvel Rivals?

Let’s explain the difference between the Ace Icon in Marvel Rivals is and an Ace, as in wiping out the enemy team.

Ace in Marvel Rivals Explained

Hundreds of thousands of players from around the globe have been playing Marvel Rivals since it launched a few weeks ago. However, many of them might still not know all of the features of the game’s user interface and all of the terminology related to the title.

Ace is one such example that seems to be Ace, as the term can refer to two different, but related things, making it more confusing. Normally, an Ace refers to the action of wiping the entire enemy team in a short time. League of Legends players, for example, know this very well.

However, Marvel Rivals also has the Ace icon, which sometimes appears next to a person’s character icon on the scoreboard. Curiously, it’s not necessarily related to whether the player has made an Ace (a team wipeout), but rather it’s a mark of overall performance. You may still get the Ace icon if you achieve a certain amount of points in a match. These can be done by securing a lot of kills, dealing a lot of damage, healing a lot, and contributing significantly to the fight.

While, an Ace can contribute to you getting the Ace icon (confusing, huh?), it’s not a necessity. You may make one or two aces in a game but still not get the icon. Meanwhile, someone who is consistently performing well in the match would get it. What’s important to know is that the Ace icon means a player is the best performing in the team SO FAR. However, as soon as the current holder gets outperformed, they will lose the icon to the new temporary MVP.

But How Do I Get an Ace?

The simple truth is, whether you’re talking about the Ace icon or an Ace as in “enemy team wipeout”, most of it boils down to skill and luck. Getting an Ace kill in Marvel Rivals can be pretty tricky, though, as it involves having to kill enemies in a quick sequence.

However, there are some things you may try to improve your chances. While mechanical skill and quick reactions are always a great thing to have, knowing how different heroes synergize is arguably just as important for getting an Ace. For this reason, you should do some research on different character combos. For example, Groot’s ultimate combined with Moon Knight can lead to a satisfying team kill, assuming everybody gets hit with the CC.

Alternatively, just play the more overpowered heroes. Unfortunately (or I guess fortunately for you if you play these heroes), the roster of Marvel Rivals is not yet very well balanced. Therefore, you get some characters that absolutely dominate others, at least until the game’s devs rebalance things.

Unfortunately, unbalanced heroes aren’t the only issue plaguing Marvel Rivals right now. The game is just a few weeks old and it’s still experiencing teething issues that need to be fixed. One thing that has been bothering players recently is the terrible map RNG plaguing Marvel Rivals servers.

It seems like an unfortunate truth that even AAA games have gone into the habit of being released with a ton of issues and bugs. While the developers of these games often fix these problems in the months following a title’s release, it’s still a trend in modern gaming that infuriates many players, and rightly so. Everyone should be pissed if they buy a new product from a reputable source, but then that product comes with tons of issues.

In the end, Marvel Rivals is a new game, and the huge popularity it gained does promise it will have a bright future. Of course, only time, and the devs’ actions, will tell if that would be the case.
