Khaos is coming to the world of Mortal Kombat 1 very soon, and we’re starting to get gameplay videos of the brand new characters to be introduced in the upcoming expansion. The first in line was one of the most beloved robo-ninjas, Cyrax. Her trailer dropped on youtube not 24 hours ago, sending ripples down the internet realm.
She’s flashy, she’s fast, she’s absolutely bloody lethal! Players will get to experience an amazing moveset befitting a member of the deadly Lin Kuei cyber initiative. While some of those moves will be familiar to most of us, there are also flashes of the new timeline into her, allowing for new combos and tactics to be utilized.
Players can still expect to see her trademark attacks, like her energy nets, grenades and teleportation combos, but again – mixed and matched with traditional African dancing, which honestly looks pretty great in the trailer. And trust me when I say I was less than thrilled to see that initially. I’m still not sure what to think about the accent though. Maybe it’ll grow on me…
Why MK1 Gender-Bending Actually Makes Sense
Unless you’ve not been carefully reading, Cyrax is now a she. Now, I know this is a major turnoff for most of you (and the dislike ratio on youtube reflects that), but understand that MK1 brings us a rather unique opportunity to break some boundaries. It’s a completely new timeline with endless opportunities. And if NetherRealm has chosen that Cyrax is now a badass chick, why not give it a shot and embrace it? Hell, there’s no guarantee they won’t introduce a “retro” Cyrax skin down the line.
And remember, guys, there are still more surprises to come in the very near future. Cyber ninjas Sektor and Noob Saibot are set to have their trailers released. Fans are also very eager to see the guest fighters MK1 will feature, such as Ghostfacefrom the Scream, T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and my personal favorite – Conan the Barbarian! I mean, who wouldn’t want to see their enemies crushed, driven before them, and hear the lamentation of their men and women!
