The eccentric billionaire Elon Musk has been an avid gamer and now claims he’s one of the best in Diablo IV.

Elon Musk Reveals He’s Top-20

It’s been a widely-known fact for a while that the eccentric billionaire Elon Musk also spends some of his free time playing video games. However, in a recent Joe Rogan podcast, the celebrity businessman made quite a bold statement regarding one game in particular and his standings in it. Elon Musk claimed he’s one of the top 20 Diablo 4 players in the world, a list which contains only two Americans.

(He talks about this in the first couple of minutes of the podcast)

While it perhaps shouldn’t be surprising that one of the world’s richest men would have the ability to do whatever he wants in his free time. But it’s still quite a bold claim in terms of actual gaming. However, it is actually true and for a time, Elon Musk was at number 19 in the world rankings. Specifically, the oftentimes controversial billionaire was climbing in the rankings at The Pit of Masters – the last dungeon of Diablo IV.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be so surprising that Elon Musk has managed to reach this high level in the game. He has been noted to share some gameplay of Diablo 4 at a very high level. If you trawl through his Twitter account, among the videos of rockets, Teslas, and political statements, you can see him directly complaining to Blizzard. Musk has been mostly playing a Barbarian and it seems like most of his complaints have been about buffing the class.

What’s the Catch?

Of course, many people have speculated that the eccentric billionaire is either being carried or is simply paying for a bunch of perfect loot in order to reach these heights. While this is quite certainly a possibility, there doesn’t seem to be any solid evidence of this right now.

Another point of questioning for many is how the hell a man who has so many companies under his name has the time to spend on grinding Diablo IV. But to be honest that’s probably more easily explained by that exact same fact. Elon Musk is probably a lot more hands-off in his companies than most people think, giving him more free time to devote to gaming.

It should also be noted that at the time of writing of this article, the billionaire has fallen out of the top 20 players worldwide, but he’s still on quite a high level.
