Castle Craft is a New Sandbox of Siege, Strategy, and Destruction

Kewy visual for Castle Craft

Castle Craft tasks you with building elaborate fortresses and defending them from waves of vicious enemies in a blocky sandbox RTS coming soon to Steam.

What Is Castle Craft?

Castle Craft is what you get when you combine an RTS, the destruction of Besiege, the medieval base building of Becastled, and the blocky voxel sandbox of Minecraft. This upcoming sandbox game seems to promise exactly that as it lets you build a castle (or should we say “Craft” your castle, get it?) and then try to defend it from attacking armies.

According to the developer Twin Earth, Castle Craft is a world “where chaos reigns and creativity knows no bounds”. Players take the role of the esteemed right hand of King Debimius and become the kingdom’s chief builder. They are then tasked with building various buildings and fortifications to help the kingdom defend itself from enemies.

Fortunately, players can also assign workers for the various tasks needed to run the fortress. This includes gathering resources, tending to farms, and of course, building the actual fortifications and other buildings. But a castle is as good as the soldiers defending it, so players will also have to train and equip men.

Another thing that sets Castle Craft apart from similar games is that you can also join the fight. You take control of your personal character (which you can also upgrade with various skills BTW) and fight alongside the troops. You’ll be able to use various siege machines and unleash magical powers to help turn the tide of the battle.

What makes things even more interesting is the fully destructible blocky environment around you. Every attack you make, and every spell you cast, all have a very visible impact on the world and your buildings. Following each battle, you’ll have to regroup your men and rebuild what’s been destroyed to prepare for the upcoming wave of enemies.

When does the Game Come Out?

Castle Craft has been in development since last year and is finally nearing completion. Currently, the devs plan to release the game sometime in April. However, you can play a short demo for free right now by downloading it from the official Castle Craft page on Steam.

It features one fully playable kingdom featuring 12 unit types and 12 abilities. There are also tens of different buildings and traps that you will have to use to protect your fortress from 15 consecutive waves of enemies. So why not try the game out before it’s fully released in April?
