Marvel Rivals Devs Update on the Mouse Acceleration Issue

Key Art for Marvel Rivals featuring several heroes and villains

The developers of Marvel Rivals have announced a temporary duck-tape fix for the ongoing mouse acceleration issue.

Season 1 of Marvel Rivels Nears and the Devs Are Working on Problems

While Marvel Rivals has seen a huge following despite being just a few weeks old, it’s no secret that the game still has some issues. This is one of the reasons why the game is yet to enter its first competitive season as the dev team is still ironing out some kinks. One of the main issues right now is the horrid aim and weird hitboxes that some heroes have.

Fortunately, NetEase have listened to the feedback from players, and are currently working on a temporary fix for the issue.

One of the biggest problems with aiming in Marvel Rivals is the mouse acceleration problems. Community manager James regularly interacts with players on the game’s official Discord server, and earlier today he gave an update on the temporary fix for the issue. “Thanks for your feedback regarding the mouse acceleration. We are now working on the solution and will introduce this feature in the upcoming Season 1,” he wrote.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know what that fix would actually entail. It’s most likely it would be some kind of in-game toggle to turn mouse acceleration on and off.

How To Fix Marvel Mouse Acceleration Issues

Mouse acceleration, if you don’t know, determines the distance your cursor travels based on how fast or slow you move your mouse. Essentially, fast movements make the crosshairs more greater distances, while slow movements mean they travel a shorter distance. This can be quite the problem for players who are used to playing other shooters with no mouse acceleration.

For now, community manager James suggested a temporary fix:

  • Search for Mouse Settings in Windows search box
  • Select Additional mouse settings under the Related Settings heading
  • Switch to the Pointer Options tab, then untick the Enhanced pointer box
  • Select Apply and then Ok

Unfortunately, this is still a somewhat inconvenient and roundabout “solution” to the problem. Mouse acceleration is one of the several issues that NetEase has to take care of before the start of Season 1. Another big problem fans have been complaining recently about is the terrible map RNG in Marvel Rivals. If this issue isn’t fixed before Season 1’s start, it may be an even bigger problem than bad mouse acceleration.

While players wait for the update on the issues and the start of Season 1 of the game, they may enjoy the ongoing Christmas event, which includes a new game mode and free skin.
