Enhance your Minecraft playing experience by adding tons of new dangerous enemies, and beating them by using dozens of new magical weapons.

What Is the Born in Chaos Minecraft Mod?

While Minecraft has dozens of mobs that make the world feel a lot more alive and interesting, seasoned players might find even this selection a bit dull and uninteresting. Fortunately, there are many mods out there that offer a way to reinvigorate your experience by adding a ton of new mobs.

Created by mongoose_artist, Born in Chaos is one such mod that adds a lot of new aggressive mobs that will not only make the world feel more interesting but also pose new challenges to players. With over 5.5 million downloads on the official Curseforge page, the Born in Chaos is certainly among the more well-liked and well-built mob-centered mods out there.

The mod is relatively simple, despite adding dozens of new mobs, as well as a new boss, weapons and armor, decorative blocks, and many structures. You don’t really need to learn new mechanics or wrap your head around how certain systems work, so Born in Chaos is relatively easy to get into. However, considering the many new things it adds to the game, the mod still has a lot to offer and keeps your Minecraft experience fresh.

In this article, we will give an overview of what Born in Chaos has to offer. However, we won’t go into full detail about every aspect of the mod so that we don’t spoil everything.

What Mobs Does Born in Chaos Add to Minecraft?

Remember your earliest days playing Minecraft when you were scared to venture outside your base at night or when you didn’t want to go into dark caves? Well, Born in Chaos brings that feeling back. Revolving around adding tons of new exciting and strong enemies, the mod is certainly a great way to refresh your experience.

Fortunately, there are a ton of weaker mobs as well, so you won’t be flooded with many elite mobs. We’ll start by looking at some of them, before gradually making our way toward stronger enemies. As a reminder, we won’t go over every single mob added by Born in Chaos, as we don’t have the space, and we also don’t want to spoil too much.

Here Are some Weaker New Mobs:

  • Decrepit Skeleton – a decrepit version of a normal skeleton that only attacks in melee.
  • Decaying Zombie – It behaves like a normal zombie but its attacks inflict Hunger and Rotten Stink on the victim. When you kill it, its flesh falls off and it turns into a Decrepit Skeleton.
  • Baby Skeleton – like the baby zombie from vanilla Minecart, but not as annoying as it has less HP and attack.

  • Barrel Zombie – a zombie stuck in a barrel that spawns primarily near water bodies. It does not drown like normal zombies and does not burn in the sun, because the barrel’s lid gives him shade. It can drop a variety of items upon death that range significantly in rarity.
  • Zombie Clown – while it may seem funny at first this mob is climbing the power scale. It can slow down its victim and also cause short-term poisoning and dizziness. It also has significantly more HP than the previously described mobs.

  • Swarmer – a zombie infected with flies that use it as a living nest. The zombie no longer burns in the sun and its attacks will cause hunger and Rotten Stink. When receiving damage, it will periodically summon a Corpse Fly. After death, it explodes, releasing a swarm of Flies and Maggots.

Here Are some Stronger Enemies added by Born in Chaos

  • Zombie Bruiser – а dangerous type of zombie, with a decent amount of health, and also quite agile for its size. The attack knocks the player back and briefly stuns them.
  • Skeleton Thrasher – similarly to its zombie colleague, the mob is big and strong and can also knock back the player and stun them.
  • Bonescaller – while he doesn’t have that much HP, this special skeleton can attack from a distance with his magic staff. In addition, he can summon baby skeletons in battle, making it more difficult to deal with him. You can disable a skeleton’s ability to summon minions if you can set it on fire or apply a magical drain effect to it.
  • Glutton Fish – if you thought the waters were safe, you were very wrong. The Glutton Fish can be found in oceans and is very aggressive as it attacks almost every other mob. It has high damage and HP but its attacks can be blocked with a shield, after which the fish will be temporarily disorientated, allowing you to fight back.
  • Nightmare Stalker – one of the most dangerous mobs in the game, the Nightmare Stalker starts spawning in the world from the third night of the game so that the player has time to prepare. A characteristic sound and a message in the chat accompany his spawning. It appears completely invisible, and all you can see are two glowing eyes until you attack it. However, it will likely come for you first as it can see the player from 70 blocks away. The Stalker has a strong attack that causes blindness and also gradually steals vitality, healing the mob. It is one of the most fearsome mobs you can encounter in this mod.

What Weapons does Born in Chaos add to Minecraft?

We’ve looked at some of the mobs added by the mod and as you can see, a lot of them are pretty strong. Fortunately, Born in Chaos adds a variety of weapons that make dealing with said mobs a lot easier. Here’s just a sample of the massive arsenal that the mod brings to the game:

  • Bonescaller Staff – this weapon gives you the ability of the previously-mentioned Bonescaller mob and lets you summon two Baby Skeletons by right-clicking on a block. They will attack all monsters they see for a certain period of time.
  • Intoxicating Bomb – a thrown explosive projectile that doesn’t destroy blocks but can destroy dropped items. A direct hit on the target will inflict the effect of intoxication on the target.
  • Death Totem – it can save you from lethal damage like the totem of immortality from vanilla Minecraft. Additionally, the Death Totem also heals you and grants you temporary strength. However, this item also imposes the effect of magical exhaustion, and if you’re under it, the Death Totem will not work.
  • Nightmare Scythe – Melee weapon with low attack speed, but its attacks inflict Blind, Magic Drain, and Wither on the target, similarly to the Nightmare Stalker.
  • Soul Saber – Imposes a special Soul Stratification effect on the victim, which slows the target, and upon completion of the action, deals damage depending on the victim’s current health. The higher the target’s health, the higher the damage
  • Skullbreaker Hammer – A simple brutish weapon that can push away victims and stun them of the attack is given when the player jumps.
  • Dark Warblade – A heavy two-handed sword that deals high damage but can only be used while under the effect of Strength.

What Armor does Born in Chaos add to Minecraft?

Aside from weapons, the mod also adds a few armor sets that will greatly help you in hunting monsters. In fact, these sets are made out of the monsters themselves.

  • Spiny Shell Armor – perhaps the weakest, but also the easiest armor to get. This set includes a helmet and a breastplate When wearing at least one piece of armor, it will deal retaliatory damage to any enemy who hits you, similarly to the Thornes enchantment. Crafting items for this armor are dropped by the Thornshell Crab.
  • Nightmare Armor – this type of armor can make you move faster while you’re in the dark and you will also receive a bonus for all dark magical items and weapons. It is made out of monster skin and dark metal that many mobs drop, although it can be a bit of a grind. In addition, you will probably have to kill several Nightmare Stalkers to get a skull, which you will have to use for crafting the helmet.
  • Dark Metal Armor – arguably the most powerful, but also hard-to-get armor the mod adds to Minecraft. It is made out of a lot of dark metal, as you need it for special armor plates, which means you have to kill a lot of monsters. You have to then combine these with the vanilla netherite armor to complete the set. However, the full armor gives you increased protection, immunity to withering, and you also go on a rampage if your health hits a critical low.

Here’s what Building Blocks Born in Chaos adds

While the mod doesn’t introduce a lot of building blocks, the limited collection still offers some nice variety for vanilla Minecraft. For example, Black Argillite is a new stone that is found at a depth of 17 to -17 height for 1.18, and 17 to 1 height for 1.16. You can craft many decorative blocks out of it, which is great for some darker builds.

Scorched Log offers another dark palette for building and can be made by combining any standard logs and Fire Light Dust. Planks can be made brittle by right-clicking them with an axe. These boards will break when stepped on.

Finally, Born in Chaos adds new variants for the Colored Glass Panes that have a metal lattice, perfect for older-looking builds.

Conclusions

Born in Chaos is the perfect mod to spice up your Minecraft experience without the game feeling overwhelming or more complicated. Many of the mobs added by the mod fit seamlessly into the vanilla game while the stronger mobs and minibosses offer a great challenge for veteran players.

While we didn’t cover even half of the monsters introduced by this mod, this just means you will have a more interesting time in the Minecraft nights, which are now scarier and more challenging. Fortunately, the dozens of new items and weapons that Born in Chaos adds will help you a lot in hunting monsters.

Of course, since Born in Chaos blends almost seamlessly into vanilla Minecraft, you can use it as a part of a bigger modpack. If magical items and monsters aren’t enough for you, you may want to enter the industrial age with Immersive Engineering. This mod adds many new ways to industrialize the game and also features several strong weapons, like railguns and flamethrowers, that will be great for hunting Born in Chaos’ monsters.
